How to Choose the Best Travel Camera

How to choose the best camera for travel

Over the past ten years, I've scoured the Internet and test the camera gear in order to find the perfect travel photography tools. When readers and members of our community Instagram asks us what camera you use, and always tell them what works best for us will not necessarily be the best fit for them. Choosing the best camera travel more about finding one that allows you to shoot the pictures that you want.

Choosing the best travel photography camera different from choosing a professional camera for things like wedding photography, portrait photography, or even just everyday use at home. With a lot of camera options in the market, it can be a little intimidating when you start your search for a new camera.

CONSIDER THE BEST TYPE OF TRAVEL CAMERA FOR YOUR NEEDS

There are several types of cameras travel market (point and shoot, "advanced digital cameras, DSLR, Mirrorless) and each one has its own list of benefits. First, and most importantly, you have to consider what is most important to you-size, weight, price, ease of use, etc. I've listed below, the benefits and limitations of each type of camera, as well as higher cameras in each of those categori

Compact digital cameras (point & amp; shoot)

If your main concern is price and weight, easy-to-use travel camera, then you will need to look at buying "compact digital camera. This type of camera won't weigh down your luggage, they'll easily fit in a small bag or purse.

Compact digital cameras are ideal if you don't want to be bothered with too many controls and you want the least expensive option. At present, still find a point and shoot camera that takes great pictures. This doesn't mean you have to choose just any point and shoot because they are not all created equal. Here are the best travel cameras under $ 300.

Advanced compact digital cameras (high end compact)

Advanced compact digital cameras similar to point and shoot cameras, but they come with some more bells and whistles. It is the high end digital cameras with lenses.

Advanced compact cameras similar in size to the ones mentioned above, they offer full manual mode in addition to the automatic mode. (Note: all of the cameras mentioned in the above section display manual mode, as well.) As they usually have the ability to capture images in RAW format – which is important if you plan to make any adjustments to your images once you download them to your computer.

These cameras tend to be a bit more expensive than regular engagements, but less expensive than DSLR cameras or mirrors.

Mirrorless cameras

If the image quality and size and weight is the most important factor, you will want to consider buying a camera mirrors. What is a mirrorless camera, you ask? Unlike digital SLR, do not have this type of camera mirror reflex optical viewfinder – hence the name mirrors. This type of camera is ideal for people who still want the lens switch without the weight of a DSLR.

Another plus for mirrors is electronic viewfinders because you can view the real effect of the aperture and ISO adjustments, unlike a DSLR. If you want to take some of the guesswork out of your photography, then mirrorless way to go.

Digital SLR cameras

Mirrorless cameras have come a long way and a lot of photographers decided to ditch the bulky DSLR cameras for this option is lighter. I completely understand why you would choose the travelers of mirrors on a DSLR, but many photographers, including myself, are not quite ready to toss the digital SLR cameras.

Cameras are more suitable for sports, wildlife, and other types of Imaging. If these types of photography doesn't interest you, then you probably will be fine with mirrors. I often travel to wildlife photography, I need a zoom lens capable (using Canon 70-300 lens).

Choose a DSLR means you will have more choices, faster lens focus (although the mirrors follows close behind), and a slightly longer battery life. He also compared the low light capabilities of my Canon 5d Mark II with mirrors, cameras and don't feel they can compete in this regard so far. In the end, I'm sure the cameras will become obsolete, but we're still a little way off of mirrorless cameras replace traditional exactly.

The following DSLR camera great for entry level or intermediate photographers who still want the benefits of more specific lens and longer battery life, great low light capabilities and focus faster. Travel photography under water.

This post wouldn't be complete if I did not mention underwater photography. If you're like us anything, and like to play in any body of water, who do not want to get the best underwater pictures on vacation?

We have tried a bunch of point and shoot cameras under water, and taken a decent picture, but since then the ghabro Hero4 with LCD screen, this is now our favorite underwater camera for travel. Fixed the issues I had with the Hero 3 (LCD screen, no fogging, ultra wide angle lens) on 4 hero. It is great to work silvis on Earth too!
